Maths& Martians

Solve the sum. Save the colony!

A space maths adventure for children in Reception to Year 6 (ages 4-11). Cartoon aliens are buzzing the Mars colony, and every right answer knocks out a shield. Number facts, times tables, money, fractions and telling the time, following the UK National Curriculum, with options for the US, Canada and Australia.

  • Coming soon to the App Store
Three cadets in their spaceships, an orange rocket, a cyan twin-pod and a purple rocket, surrounded by maths symbols above Mars.

Read it. Work it out. Fire!

  1. An alien ship swoops in

Each question appears on the ship’s console, and can be read aloud too.

  2. Type the answer

Older cadets use a number pad. The youngest tap one of three answers, with pictures to count.

  3. Knock out its shields

Every right answer is a hit. Miss once and you get another try; miss twice and the game shows the working, so there’s no guessing your way through.

Try a round on this page. In the app, questions are matched to your child’s school year.

Zip Saucer

Pick a role, fly your ship

Every cadet answers the same maths. The role decides their special move, which charges after three right answers.

  • Pilot

Double Blast: two hits at once.

  • Engineer

Scanner: cuts the next question down to two choices.

Build a colony, earn crystals, dress up

Thirty missions of five alien waves, each ending in a mothership boss. Every mission completed adds a building to your Mars colony. Crystals from battles buy hats, backpacks, paint jobs, colony decorations and space pets. You have to earn the crystals to spend them; they can’t be bought.

A colony grows one mission at a time, watched over by a space cat and a robo pup.

  • Tricky facts come backProgress is tracked fact by fact (7 × 8, not “the 7 times table”), and facts a child misses come up more often until they stick.

  • UK, US, Canada or AustraliaOne setting changes the school years, the currency in money questions, how clocks are read, and the spelling.

No ads, no accounts, no tracking

Cadets and their progress live on the device they were made on. Nothing leaves the device unless a grown-up chooses to back up to their own Google Drive, and even then it goes into a hidden folder only this game can open. If you buy Premium, payment goes through your app store, and a service called RevenueCat confirms the purchase using an anonymous ID.

There’s no advertising, no analytics, no microtransactions, and no chat or social features.

One unlock, no subscription

Every mission, topic and the Times Tables Check practice are free. A single one-time purchase, Premium, adds:

  • Up to 20 cadets on a device instead of 2, so brothers and sisters each get their own
  • The full progress report, to share with a partner or teacher
  • Premium shop items, still bought with crystals earned in play

It’s bought through your device’s app store and can be restored from the Premium screen in Parent Settings.
